Course Content
 

Course Name:

  • The "STAR Players". This is a performance class that is a Fine Arts or a Fine Arts Elective class. This class uses and learns about music sampling, using the different softwares "Sound Trap" and "Magix Music Maker". In addition, the students will also learn the basics of the guitar and play at the end of the Spring semester to a selective class on campus.

 

Course Goals and /or Major Student Outcome (SLO's)

  • Fall-To understand the basic fundamentals of music theory by understanding key changes, different musical forms, and to apply the information to the "Sound Trap" and the "Magix Music Maker" music sampling software for the student to "compose" electronic music.
  • Spring-The student will learn how to use voice over and to apply videos into the different music software and preview the works at the last Renaissance Assembly of the year. In addition, the students will also learn basic chords and music on the guitar so they can also import their guitar playing into their video.

Grading and Assessments

  • The class uses the traditional A-F grading scale with Work Habits and Cooperation grades included.
  • Assessments are done by tests, oral reports, class essays, class rubric, class performances, and deadlines on projects.

 

Credits

  • Credit is given at least every fifteen days. Staying on task is very important. If the student does not participate during the class time, the student will not receive participation points for the day. This can and will push back the day or day's the student would have received their credit.

 

Instructional Methods and/or Strategies

Primary Method:

  • Direct instruction by teacher for class content (lecture, direction, tactile learning, teacher input).
  • Independent work in class by use of working in groups, individual compositions, and outside performances.
