Class Policies



Attendance:
Tardies: All classes are consistent with the school's policy regarding tardies. 
Absences: You are responsible for making up work missed due to excused absences. You must make arrangements with me immediately upon returning to class. I will not remind you to make up missed assignments. 

Writing:

I read ALL papers very carefully before giving credit.

All writing assignments will follow MLA format.  PROOFREAD all work BEFORE you email it. Type all writing assignments. All assignments should be emailed to me at ms.d.eng4@gmail.com.

Check your email daily. Work will be graded electronically and returned via email. Open ALL documents returned by me. Inside your document I will "track changes" which will be in red. Right click to accept the changes. If there is a vertical line in the left margin of the paper, there is a correction on that line.

Read the changes to see WHY it was made so you do not make the same mistake again.

I will also insert comments. Makes changes and delete the comment by right clicking.

To alert you of an error in spelling, word use, capitalization or punctuation, I may highlight your text. You must figure out what is incorrect, fix it, removed the highlighting before you resubmit the paper.

Grading: 
I grade assignments using a rubric. Short assignments are pass/fail. Tests and essays are graded based on 100 points.

  • 90 - 100% = A
  • 80-89%     = B
  • 70 - 79%   = C
  • 60-69%     = D

Electronics:
Please turn off all electronics, including phones, music players, etc., before you enter the classroom. Any cellphone or electronic device on display will be sent immediately to the office, where you or a parent may retrieve it at the end of the school day.
