English 4

Senior English

The YouTube.com links below are an introduction to the English Language.
Please take some time to watch and learn about the ancient history of the language that has its roots in the Dark Ages before the people of England could write. When history was passed down in stories of dragons, knights, kings, and ladies, sorcerers and witches.

The story of King Arthur of Camelot is the topic  rewritten and retold, and made into  more movies than any other story in the English language, yet it was not written down until hundreds of years after the death of the hero. Was he a real king? Was he based on an actual man? You decide.

English was exported from a tiny island country that during the 19th Century could claim, "The sun never sets on the British Empire," because the crown controlled countries all the way around the globe.

Today, English is the global language of business, computer technology, and space exploration.
But, are we losing our influence globally? Is it because our students have lost interest in education?

The videos are dramatic and interesting, but there will not be time to watch them all in class. Explore learning on your own. It might become addicting.
